Event Description: 

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing frauds in the United States.  Our speaker will provide an introductory understanding of identify theft and then a deeper dive using case examples (as conducted by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Office of Internal Affairs) to demonstrate effective investigations of identity theft.

Speaker Bio: 

Jemayel Mall, CFE, is a Criminal Investigator with the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, specializing in employee misconduct and tax-related crimes such as fraud, identity theft, and money laundering. He has worked closely with State and federal law enforcement and prosecutors, earning recognition from the Southern District of New York and the FBI.

Previously he served as an Investigative Auditor with the NYS Board of Elections, focusing on campaign finance violations and political corruption. Jemayel also instructs at the New York Law Enforcement Academy on identity theft investigations and is certified to teach defensive tactics and aerosol subject restraint. Jemayel holds an MBA from the College of Saint Rose and a BS in Finance from Siena University.
