Presentation Description
This presentation gives the audience an overview of current techniques utilized in forensic document examination. It combines technical knowledge and first hand experience of the discipline (NYPD) to introduce the audience to the benefits of the science for investigative purposes. The presentation will familiarize its audience with the various areas of document examination and demonstrate why the culmination of this knowledge may be at times more beneficial than relying on fingerprint and DNA evidence.

Speaker Bio
Grace Warmbier is a New York based Forensic Document Examiner specializing in handwriting & signature analyses. She has over 10 years of experience at the New York City Police Department Police Laboratory working on high profile criminal cases. When not performing casework, Ms. Warmbier has spent time educating law enforcement on the benefits of forensic document examination. She has collaborated with the FBI, the Secret Service & various Crime Scene Units. Now, Ms. Warmbier has taken her government training & expertise privately, servicing & educating the entire country.
Ms. Warmbier’s practice encompasses a variety of document examination needs including but not limited to: handwriting analysis, signature analysis, forgeries, disguised writing, counterfeit documents, obliterations, alterations, indented impressions, print processes, age determination, fraud, government documents, prenuptial agreements, checks, wills, trusts, deeds, contracts/written agreements, currency, etc.
Her distinguished background of training & experience at the Suffolk County Crime Laboratory, the Queens District Attorney’s Office: Homicide Investigations Bureau, & the NYPD Police Laboratory have lead Grace to be consistently deemed an expert witness. Ms. Warmbier has a vast amount of courtroom experience, having given testimony across numerous jurisdictions, & is extremely well versed in the intricacies of forensic/legal proceedings.
Grace Warmbier brings over a decade of seasoned proficiency to each case & doesn’t shy away from complexity as shown in the high profile work she has done. Her hard work & dedication to the profession has been recognized by numerous government officials, her most recent award being the Outstanding Law Enforcement Professional Award given by the NY-NJ Detectives Crime Clinic. Ms. Warmbier’s professionalism has contributed to her successful career of over 25,000 cases and she has been credited with being an integral part of solving crime.
